e21 screen print

My e21 im not a materialistic type of person but when you put soo much time and go to Bimmer meetings you really appreciate your car. You grow a relationship with this object because you use it everyday. I named her Alpina.

Art exhibit at Wired

Wired in BĂ«thlehem

Drawing class

Finally we are getting to the projects i have been dyeing to do. I wish this part of the semester would have came sooner. We had to go on a trip to the Wagner museum and sketch animals and then recreate a new animal and draw it out like a botanical pattern. If i get time to take pictures i will post them. I'm just so happy to finally start doing watercolor. Its one of my favorite mediums.

another day gone by

This was my boyfriend fixing his rust on his car. I also toke some interesting pictures of my car. I noticed that even though I have rust on my car it has very interesting colors and shapes. My shift knob has water damage but the colors from the worn glue were ugly at first but using my camera I appreciate it more.

combinations

My first combination is this picture of a parking meter and a chocolate coin. I picked them because of there content mostly. Its pretty basic idea of parking meters "eat" all of our change. The first big expense I noticed moving to the city was how expensive it is to park your car. You really take for granted how cheap it is to park when you live in the suburbs.

My second has to do with Idea how even though water is filtered and purified it first came from a stream with duck $hit. The big picture is a close up of my espresso machine. I work at a Starbucks so fancy coffee drinks rub off on me. The espresso machine has grimy coffee grinds on the handle if you look closely. It also taps into the thought of anxiety. The ducks are in a clumped crowd there is no privacy between the ducks. I'm sure ducks are used to living like that but if you put yourself where they are I imagine being very self conscious and angst. The cafina machine relates to anxiety because of hype feeling you get from a caffeine high. For me at least I get very angst and sometimes nervous.

The last one is a pumpkin carving my friend did late one night getting ready for a car show. She won 3rd place!!!! The "remix" was an art show at my hometown it was a flyer for it. They relate because of the color orange. They are both relevant to my lifestyle too. Art is a huge part of my life and I make art on my free time. Its odd calling it art because drawing and painting are hobbies and relaxers for me. "Art" sounds so professional for me. Hanging out with my friends is obviously a huge part of my lifestyle but more so about cars. My boyfriend and my friends are way into European cars so it rubs off on me.

Photoshop painting

This was my first time using photo shop. At first it was very frustrating because its very hands off office work. I like to be able to touch what I'm doing so if i make a mistake I can quickly take it back. But for my first time experience it was very frustrating when I made a mistake to fix it because a lot of the time I would end up deleting what I'm trying to lasso.

Art exhibit in Wired Cafe

I went to Wired cafe on the weekend just to try the seasonal pumpkin latte when I came across works of art on the walls. After being distracted by the Barista about the most efficient way to steam milk me and my friends saw that the gallary was open. There was a local artists work but I cannot remmember his full name. Im not that worried about it since I go there alot and I have seen these peices all around the Lehigh Valley I know the artist is local. I have pictures of some peices they are really great. It gave me some ideas on how to use photography and paint together. The colors this artist uses are soo amazing. They are not store bought colors you just know that he mixed them and stored them because they are in alot of his paintings. I do regret not catching his full name and not signing the book they leave at exhibits to leave comments. It really gave me ideas where tiny cafes are a good starting point to start getting out there.

show in Easton

I was invited to be a part of this tiny gallery in Easton. The show is January 9th and then the following Sunday between fall and spring semester. We are going to have to have a few meetings on how we are going to set up the exhibit. Its in a one room gallery in a bookstore with a coffee shop and a Cuban restaurant. All I know so far is that if we sell any work the gallery gets 10-20% of the profit. A big issue is that I don't now how I'm going to make paintings while I'm in school and I work 3 days a week. It just seems impossible to do right now but i think during the Christmas break i can pump out a few paintings to put in the show. Someone who was important to me told me I was going to find a lot of opportunities in college that i should look into.

VW week :)

carving pumpkins in the garage getting ready for the show. Well not my car i have an e21 bimmer :). My girlfriends are all into VWs soooo I go do VW things also. They secretly want me to convert to having a VW. I didn't get to go to the show because i had to work but at least i got to carve a pumpkin for there cars :) I carved the one that has a tuna and a tuna can and says bskt. Tuna is slang for a girl with a nice car. . . yea I know gross. Basket is slang for a type of convertible that has the bar that goes across the top in case if the car flips. . . because it looks like a basket.

oopsies

I learned the horrors of leaving my art supplies back in my home town this week. I had to sit around on my one class pretty much because i left my art supplies back home which is an hour away. I learned how to do with what a have though. For example i needed black acrylic soo I toke some gesso and added black ink to the gesso and it worked for black acrylic.

Research

So in my 3D class i learned how to actually use the library. As corny as this sounds they have a lot of inspirational books in there. We also learned how to use this website called artstor. Its an art storage database. There is sooo much work there I think every piece of artwork that has been ever been created is in that website. It wasn't a typical 3D class but i learned things that I can use with me for the rest of my life and that's very very important. Doing artwork on my own time I sometimes go through weeks with no ideas and it makes me lose motivation. But I can use these tools now to keep me going. Well when I can start doing paintings but for now there is no time for that :(

Monday, September 28, 2009

For some of these pictures I toke my camera with me back home over the weekend. Although the subject limits and i cannot show what I do on the weekends. But here is letters that eather amuse me or the object is important. Some of them have a story behind them as well.

Inspiration :) Stress:(

For 3D's next project I'm making a boat in a bottle. I'm very excited to start this project but at the same time I'm nervous for another bad critique. In my drawing class I'm starting to get back into the hang of producing drawings like a factory. Its always at first the amount of work is overwhelming but its getting better. I cant wait to start the sophomore studio classes. This whole make me go backwards makes me feel so behind. Plus I want to stud abroad and double major. . . .

I hope this is all possible in 5 years :(

adventure in city hall

In my drawing class I have an assignment to do a 360 degree (panoramic) type of pictures. It was a lot of fun except you know creepers coming u to you asking for you to take your picture. I found out that when you do this kind of shot the pictures will not always line up because the lens is curved so the different angles really show.

~A bad day for 3D~

There comes a time in art school where your work gets beat on, today was that day. The story starts out like this, I picked a very ambitious project idea not realizing what work that would cause. I worked on this project throughout the week and on the one day only got 4 hours because it was really a time consuming thing. I had so much passion in the project when i started , well there is always going to be defaults but over all It was cool. I transformed a spade into a maple leaf three dimensionally. Excited for my critique I volunteered for my turn. Everyone loved it and of course there were defaults that i knew and if i were to do the project again would have changed such as little craft issues. The teacher was very disappointed and sarcastic. I felt myself get very empty because of it. It would of been different if it was a project I didn't feel passion to do and spent so much time on. I started to cry and it was the most embarrassing point of my college experience.

Adventure in Chinatown

So for my adventure I drove to Chinatown. I walked around trying to figure out where I was. It was very confusing because all the signs were in chinese and asking people for directions was out of the question. I found this bakery and bought a chrysanthium cookie ( not sure if I spelled that right). After Chinatown I drove around downtown and toke pictures of the skyscrapers. After dealing with the chaos in the city i drove home to work at Starbucks.
All the images are in here I super promise
